The cherry blossoms at Daigo are said to be the origin of hanami in Japan. As you walk through the tunnel of Somei Yoshino cherry trees from the entrance, you will be greeted by the elegant sight of weeping cherry trees swaying in the wind in front of the main gate. Many weeping cherry trees are in full bloom, and when the wind blows, petals fall like snow. The collaboration between the Five-Story Pagoda and the cherry blossoms is stunning, creating a picturesque scene.

Many of Daigo’s cherry trees are around 100 years old, with branches spreading wide and offering a relaxed, peaceful appearance. My personal favorite is the weeping cherry tree in front of the Reihokan. The branches bend under the weight of the flowers, enhancing their beauty, and it was one of the most magnificent sights I’ve ever seen.
