Ootoyo shrine

Ootoyo Shrine has quietly stood beside the Philosopher’s Path, away from the bustling crowds. From the narrow alley, various flowers bloom, and as you pass through the torii gate, you are welcomed by a large, graceful weeping cherry tree swaying gently in the wind, as if guarding the shrine.

Behind the main hall, a mountain, believed to be the dwelling place of the gods, rises sharply. The shrine’s guardian dogs (komainu) are unique, with different animals such as mice, monkeys, snakes, and birds depicted.
