About Apple Pie

Japanese apples are incredibly delicious and are a fruit that can be proudly shared with the world. Among them, Hirosaki is a renowned apple-producing region, with many varieties of apples being grown. Hirosaki is also famous for its apple pies, to the point that a guide map has been created for them. Recently, I set off on a journey to try a variety of apple pies in Hirosaki, and in this post, I’ll be sharing my experience with you.

Located inside Hirosaki Station, I ordered apple pie with coffee. The pastry was crispy, with a cheese-like flavor. The apples are left whole, not cut in half , and still have a bit of crunch. It was sweet, but the balance with the tangy apples was just right. The coffee was served in a style similar to tea bags, allowing you to adjust the strength to your liking. It was delicious!

This is a charming bakery on the way from Hirosaki Park to the station, perfect for a coffee and cake break. The apple pie is long and cut into a square shape, with a firm pastry. It has jam on top, and the apples are soft and tender. It’s quite sweet, but eating it with the crust balances it out. The shop has a lovely, homey atmosphere.

This tea room offers a variety of apple pies from different shops. I tried a Tamura Farm apple pie with ice cream. The pie has a lattice crust, and the dough is soft. The apples are pink and have a slight crunch, with a perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity. The sunroom-style seating makes it a cute and cozy place to relax, but it gets busy, so be sure to grab a number card early in the morning!

I visited Akai Ringō for a takeout apple pie, as it was after the eat-in time. The pie is heart-shaped, which is very cute. The crust is crispy but a bit heavy. The apple filling has a nice crisp texture. It’s quite sweet.

This apple pie is located near Aomori Station. The pastry is light and crispy, while the apples are a bit soft but still retain some crunch. It’s not too sweet, and the balance with the tanginess of the apples is just right. The apple juice I ordered was incredibly delicious too!
