Meguro River Cherry Blossoms

Meguro River’s cherry blossoms are one of Tokyo’s most popular spots to enjoy sakura. The cherry trees lining the river create a beautiful scene that marks the arrival of spring. The Nakameguro area, in particular, is known for its stylish cafes and shops, making it a fashionable neighborhood to explore.

Along Meguro River, around 800 cherry trees stand tall, creating a picturesque view as the blossoms fall onto the water. The cherry blossoms are stunning during the day, but at night, they are illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. The light-up is from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and you can enjoy strolling along the river while admiring the sakura. It’s perfect for a solo traveler who wants to take a leisurely walk and enjoy the beauty of the blossoms.

• Many food stalls were set up along the river, so you could enjoy snacks and drinks while walking and enjoying the sakura.

On Saturday, March 29, I visited in the afternoon, despite the chilly weather and light rain. Nakameguro Station was extremely crowded, and walking through the area was a challenge. The rain came and went, but I took my time, walking slowly and enjoying the sakura. The blossoms were about 70% in bloom, and I could tell they would be in full bloom on the next sunny day. The night-time light-up was absolutely beautiful, with the lights and cherry blossoms reflected in the river. Next time, I think it would be wonderful to visit early in the morning on a sunny day and enjoy the view from a café.
