Even in the popular tourist destination of Kamakura, there are peaceful places where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch or a quiet coffee break. Here are two of my favorite spots that I keep coming back to—perfect for those who want to take a slower, more thoughtful journey through this beautiful town.

A Hidden Lunch Spot Through a Tunnel of Green: Sorahana

Just a short walk from Hase Station, Sorahana welcomes you with a charming entrance along the train tracks. As you walk through a tunnel of green plants, the excitement builds—and at the end of the path, a hidden garden full of seasonal flowers appears.
The restaurant is a renovated old Japanese house, with mostly small tables for one or two people. It has a warm, intimate atmosphere that makes solo dining comfortable and enjoyable.
There are two lunch sets available, both beautifully presented and packed with seasonal vegetables. The meal ends with dessert and a drink, making it feel like a complete and satisfying experience.

Reservations are essential, as Sorahana is very popular. Each time I visit, I find myself thinking, “Maybe this is the only lunch spot I need in Kamakura.

Take a Break at a Tranquil Café: Kissa Minka

After a long walk exploring Kamakura, take a moment to rest at Kissa Minka, a cozy café just a short walk from Kita-Kamakura Station.
This renovated traditional house is filled with nostalgic charm—old wooden furniture, soft lighting, and a calm, welcoming vibe. It’s the perfect place to slow down.

While the café offers meals, I recommend the hand-brewed coffee and their old-style firm pudding. The simple, nostalgic taste brings comfort with every bite.
If you’re lucky, you might get a seat with a view of the garden—it’s a peaceful backdrop that adds to the café’s relaxing atmosphere.
Kissa Minka is a quiet retreat, ideal for those traveling alone or looking for a moment of calm away from the crowds.
